Cirencester Zen Group follows the Soto Zen tradition, as practised by the Order of Buddhist Contemplatives. Soto Zen  can be translated as Serene Reflection or Silent Illumination.

We meet every Monday 2.00 - 4.00 pm, at the Friends Meeting House, Thomas St. Cirencester. Every first Monday of the month the meeting time is 7pm - 9pm

A short Buddhist scripture is recited, followed by periods of seated meditation (zazen) and walking meditation. There is an optional quiet tea and talk to finish. The group has visits from a monk of the Order of Buddhist Contemplatatives several times a year.

Meditation instruction is offered to newcomers, using a comfortable seated position. Loose comfortable clothing recommended. Shoes are left outside the meditation room.
